In 2017 I had a health event and in the same year lost special people I care about to chronic disease. After 23 years in Corporate Australia, I pivoted my entire career to became committed to changing the way we collectively view our health. Understanding the power of early detection coupled with the desire of Australian Businesses to enhance productivity, profitability and create a genuine care culture has driven the need for being WellAware.
My two former partners at PwC died due to chronic disease and when a close friend died unnecessarily from cancer, I wanted to capitalise on recent advancements in personalised healthcare to build a platform that can ultimately help save lives.
If my Dad had access to technology that had made him more aware of his risks and inspired him to have recommended checkups and tests, it could have turned out very differently for him. After losing him, and having spent my career solving client's problems using tech, I felt I had to tackle this one.
I joined WellAware because we have all lost someone close to us to chronic disease, early and often avoidably. When I first heard about the vision of our founders, I wanted in, I wanted to make a difference. Workplaces in Australia recognize the importance of keeping their staff healthy and we know that this technology will save lives. We just need to help enable the conversation.
